Thinking about the Final Space Shuttle launch last week got me to thinking about the history of space exploration, so I grabbed my copy of Space Flight (DK Books – Gill Sparrows) off the shelf and spent a few hours reading.
I love DK Books. I have a huge collection of their science and history books. They are well written, informative, and beautifully illustrated. Space Flight is no exception. It starts with the invention of gunpowder and rocketry and follows the story of space flight up through rocket warfare in the Middle Ages, the V2 rockets of WWII, the space race between the US and the USSR, the moon landing, the Space Shuttle, and the International Space Station. An amazing scientific and historical journey.
It’s a great read.
