The blogging has been a little slow as the day job has been very busy. I have managed to make some progress in working out the plot for RSG Book 2 (no title yet). I’d forgotten how difficult it is to interweave seven story arenas and 20+ characters. I don’t know how I would do it without the episode structure. As it is I’m struggling to figure out which story gets featured first and which stories have more to tell at the beginning of the novel as opposed to the end. The process would be quicker if I had more time to devote to it, but I’ve realized that it still takes weeks and weeks and even months. I can only come up with just so much story in a day before my story generation powers fade.
In the mean time I thought I would share something interesting I came across.
I learned this weeks that the entire run of IF Magazine has been posted to the Internet Archive. IF Magazine ran from 1952 to 1974 with a peak circulation of 67,000 in 1967. I only know the magazine through seeing old copies in used book stores and reading some of the better known stories that were published in it back when I was a teen.
I’ve known about The Internet Archive since I edited my feature film Dark September Rain and used some of the public domain images and footage from the Prelinger Archives. Unfortunately I haven’t really paid much attention to the IA since then. In poking around today I discovered that the Internet Archive has several other cool caches of magazines as well as a great collection of public domain sci-fi films. Below are a few reasons to take a visit to the Internet Archive.
