I came across this the home site for Robert McCall a few days ago.  What a treasure trove of great space art.

I hadn’t been aware, but he had passed away on Feb. 26 this year at age 90. He was one of the first three artists chosen by NASA in 1962 to create art that would inspire the nation about the space race and the mission to the moon. It was inspiring to me, 20 years later when I was a teen.  It’s still inspiring now. His most famous painting is probably the poster for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
