Janus Films is rereleasing Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s World on a Wire in a tour of art house movie theaters for the next several months. If you are lucky it is playing near you sometime soon.
I’ve never seen the film, but the description and the trailer make it look fascinating. Far, far ahead of it’s time.
Originally a two part miniseries for German TV, it’s about a scientist who creates a virtual reality and dies mysteriously. It looks like a cross between Tarkovsky‘s Solaris and The Matrix (or TRON or The 13th Floor). Can’t wait for the Blu Ray to hit the US.
